Frequently Asked Questions

Am I a candidate for this treatment?

The HydraFacial™ treatment is designed for all ages, skin colours and types. Even the most sensitive skin can readily tolerate the HydraFacial treatment. Our Therapist, will advise on specific treatment protocols and where appropriate customise the treatment for your personal skin conditions and needs.

How long does the treatment take?

The treatment itself will typically take between 40 and 60 minutes, depending on the precise nature of the treatment selected.

Is there any downtime or pain involved?

No – the treatment is comfortable and relaxing with immediate benefits. You can return to your normal activities straight away after the treatment is completed.

How many treatments are needed to see results?

You are likely to see an immediate improvement in your skin after just one treatment. Specific skin concerns (for example acne, or pigmentation) are likely to require several treatments for full results.

Is a HydraFacial beneficial for men?

HydraFacials are a great treatment for men as it gives immediate, lasting results and dramatically improves the appearance and health of their skin.  Regular shaving often leaves men’s skin dehydrated and dull-looking so it is important to rehydrate the skin with an effective treatment. A HydraFacial will detox, cleanse, exfoliate, unclog pores and hydrate the skin, as well as reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.  Skin will be left de-congested and bright.

Is a HydraFacial anti-ageing?

Yes, the targeted HydraFacial Anti-Ageing treatment uses the DermaBuilder multi-peptide anti-ageing serum to help diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while also enhancing the skin’s elasticity, for visibly noticeable plumping and tightening of the skin.

Can a HydraFacial help acne?

Yes, a HydraFacial helps to improve active acne by reducing the build-up of excess oils and clear the skin of congestion and impurities.  It works by reducing the production of sebum and improving scarring by deeply exfoliating with natural salicylic acid and application of different strengths of GlySal peel. The treatment consists of six stages which detoxify the skin, remove dead skin cells, extract debris, soothe the skin and provide lasting hydration.

The HydraFacial Acne and Acne Scarring treatment also delivers a specific serum for acne packed with anti-inflammatories, including salicylic acid and honey extract. The salicylic acid penetrates the pores to soften sebum, allowing impurities to be easily drawn out.  Honey extract contains anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and is a natural antiseptic.

The final stage of the HydraFacial includes a blue LED light treatment which is antibacterial.

Whats the difference between HydraFacial and  Microdermabrasion?

Hydrafacial is more lenient on the skin during the exfoliation process. The shedding of dead skin cells is gentler and much more pleasant than microdermabrasion. Some patients have even noticed more acne and the appearance of blotchy skin after microdermabrasion.

Are there any contra-indications for treatment?

Treatment is not appropriate for those who:

  • have taken Roaccutane within the last six months

  • have an allergy to aspirin, prawns or honey

  • have autoimmune disorders
